ART LONDON 2009 ENJOYS A SUCCESSFUL FIRST FEW DAYS
Art London, the international fair for contemporary and modern art, returned to Chelsea this year with a hugely successful preview evening on Wednesday 7th October, and has continued to be lively since. As well as exhibiting works from galleries including The Court Gallery, Whitfield Fine Art and Mauger Modern Art, the fair has hosted a range of events, including a drinks reception with Starlight charity last night, which was hosted by Bill Nighy, patron of the charity. However, the focus has most definitely remained on the art, with many galleries enjoying consistent sales and vested interest from old and new clients alike. Watch this space for more news from Art London, which is running until Monday 12th October.

ART LONDON 2009: SPECIAL EXHIBITION
August 2009: Art London, the UK’s longest established international art fair for contemporary and modern art, is dedicating its 2009 Special Exhibition to the historically significant collection of works by Frederic and Lord Leighton, courtesy of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This marks the first occasion that these pieces will be showcased in the UK outside of Leighton House Museum in Holland Park, London.
Lord Leighton was a leading painter and sculptor of the Victorian age who served as President of the Royal Academy (1878–96). Thematically he was preoccupied with the reinvention of ancient themes and the works on display at Art London include A Noble Lady of Venice (1865) and Athlete Wrestling with a Python (1877).
Art London takes place 8-12 October with a special preview evening on 7th October.
